The 2002 Brickyard 400 was a Winston Cup (now Nextel Cup) event that occured at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on August 4, 2002. Bill Elliott won his second consecutive race, the forty-third in his career. The victory, however, was overshadowed by Tony Stewart, who punched a photographer following a 12th place finish.
