  • Phil Von Stefenelli (born April 10, 1969 in Vancouver, British Columbia) is a former ice hockey defenceman. He played for the Boston Bruins and Ottawa Senators. He played Tier II Junior "A" for the Richmond Sockeyes and the Langley Eagles from 1985 to 1987 and then joined the Boston University Terriers from 1987 to 1991. The Vancouver Canucks chose him 122nd overall in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. Von Stefenelli tuned pro with the Canucks' farm team the Milwaukee Admirals in 1991-92 and then played two seasons for the Hamilton Canucks. In 1994 the Boston Bruins signed him as a free agent and he got into 27 games for the Bruins in 1995-96. He spent the rest of the 1994-95 and 1995-96 seasons with the Providence Bruins. The Ottawa Senators signed him in 1996 and he got into another 6 NHL games. In 1997 Von Stefenelli decided to try his luck in Europe. He split one season between Switzerland and Italy, and played one in Germany before trying out with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 1999. After failing to make the team Von Stefenelli returned to Germany. He played for the Krefeld Pinguine, Hamburg Freezers, and ERC Ingolstadt before retiring in 2006. In 33 NHL games he played in 33 games and scored 5 assists.
