Star Trek Into Darkness is featured in its IMAX form, with selected scenes in a 1.78:1 aspect ratio. The release was secured after discussions between The Digital Bits' Bill Hunt and Paramount Home Entertainment, following extensive criticism of the division's approach to the bonus features on the Into Darkness Blu-ray release. [1] Prior to the release of the collection, on 19 August 2014 , Paramount, implicitly conceding their "wrongdoings" – though having never explicitly admitted to such, unveiled a $5 rebate offer for US residents only, who had previously purchased Star Trek or Into Darkness on Blu-ray. [2] While the collection was officially announced, and received an listing, as a Region A release, it turned out that it actually was a region-free product, most likely to accommodate overseas customers as well, as the product has never been officially distributed in these markets.
