Shabana Azmi (born September 18, 1950; age 67) is a veteran Indian actress and playback singer who played Abhilasha Grewal in the first season of the Indian version of 24. Azmi has often worked with filmmakers such as Deepa Mehta and appeared in films such as City of Joy (1992), Fire (1996), Earth (1998), Daughters of this Century (2001), Waterborne (2005, with Jon Gries), 15 Park Avenue (2005), The Reluctant Fundamentalist (2012, with Kiefer Sutherland) and Midnight's Children. She is married to acclaimed writer Javed Akhtar.
