| - by user False Prophet On april 29th, Unknown person(s)were able to crack the encryption key for the DRM protection for HD-DVD. As a result of a series of Cease and Desist letters on the part of the Advanced Access Content System consortium, a number of sites removed all references to the specific key. Digg initially followed the cease and desist letter, and deleted every mention of the code. They banned several accounts for violating Digg's terms of use. Earlier today, Kevin Rose, founder of Digg posted the code himself on his blog. He said the following: But now, after seeing hundreds of stories and reading thousands of comments, you’ve made it clear. You’d rather see Digg go down fighting than bow down to a bigger company. We hear you, and effective immediately we won’t delete stories or comments containing the code and will deal with whatever the consequences might be. I personally applaud this decision. He went back to the Digg model, which is people rule the site. He decided that if people want to post the code, that they would rather go down in style than to abandon their beliefs. Now, he has to unblock the users who were banned for posting it. I've dugg the story, and encourage everyone else to register on digg to digg the story, now the most dugg story in their history. The Digg article is avalible off of the blog link, posted here. For copyright reasons, I will not post the original code. __NOEDITSECTION__ From The Opinion Wiki, a Wikia wiki.
