Nelson Tunney was a member of the United States Navy who was involved in the death of a tribal leader in Afghanistan. Upon realizing that Eric Donner had died from a pre-existing heart condition, Tunney attempted to switch the reports by going into the Pentagon, disguised as Donner and was successful in using Donner's clearance and ID card to get access to the area but was later confronted by Lauren Ross whom he was forced to kill before dumping her body in a storeroom when she attempted to call security, having realized that Donner was actually Tunney in disguise.

| - Nelson Tunney was a member of the United States Navy who was involved in the death of a tribal leader in Afghanistan. He escaped the building, disguised as an old man but the NCIS Agents caught onto his act and split up, searching various areas of the Base Motor Pool in hopes of flushing Tunney out. Just as Ziva emerged after hearing or sensing something, Tunney sprang and attacked her, intending to kill her through strangulation but gravely underestimated the NCIS Agent who had also been a former Mossad operative and who unlike Tunney's former victims fought back and even managed to come close to besting Tunney in hand-to-hand combat. The intensity of the fight presumably attracted the attention Ziva's boss, Leroy Jethro Gibbs and her colleagues, Anthony DiNozzo and Timothy McGee who upon hearing what was going almost immediately rushed to Ziva's aid with Gibbs stopping Tunney by threatening to shoot him after Tunney had removed his old man disguise which ultimately forced Tunney to surrender. Turney was later arrested and taken into custody before being presumably jailed and quite possibly dishonorably discharged for killing an officer of the United States Navy and for also attempting to cover up the murder of the unnamed tribal leader.
