Jarton was a soldier in Tantalus where he was right-hand man to King Memnos. He was killed in battle in Thrace by a mercenary and Ares took over his body to begin a war in Tantalus. He pitted Memnos' children, Daulin and Poena against each other and fed the soldiers who died to his dog, Graegus. Jarton's ghost appeared to Hercules and warned him of the plot. Hercules and Iolaus were then able to defeat Ares, give Jarton's body a proper burial and restore peace to Tantalus.
