Mohammed el-Amir Awad el-Sayed Atta (born 1978 in Kafr el-Sheikh, Egypt) was the leader of the September 11, 2001, al-Qaeda airplane hijacking team; and was as one of the hijacker pilots that flew American Airlines Flight #11 into the North World Trade Center tower.
