| - The 2606 Thermal Optical Camouflage is a recent UNSC development in the field of camouflage, developed through captured energy shielding technology. The technology works by utilising the existing energy shields projection systems. By carefully controlling the plasma field around the user, arranging it into multiple layers of certain density, the plasma can absorb light of certain wavelengths, ranging from ultra-violet to visible light and infra-red and it can also be actively tuned. This allows the user to become invisible to optical sighting systems, such as camera systems and most importantly, eyes, and to infra-red systems, such as infra-red cameras, thermal cameras and certain kinds of motion detectors.

The 2606 Thermo-Optical Camo was developed independently of Covenant Phased Array Optics, defunct photo-reactive panel technology, newer Dynamic Liquid Display fabric and Camouflage Cloak Mark II technology, and is only installed on MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armour and M84D Wolf All Terrain Armoured Assault Suit, the only two systems powerful enough to operate it. On both systems, it can be run for up to six hours, but reduces the shielding power to Grade 2.
