Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he spent most of his career with the New York Rangers. He played junior hockey for the Winnipeg Monarchs from 1940 to 1942. In 1942-43 he played for the Allan Cup champions Ottawa Commandos and then spent two seasons playing for miltary senior teams in Western Canada. That was followed by another two seasons with the Ottawa Senators senior team. After leaving the Rangers in 1953 he played five more seasons in the American Hockey League and retired in 1958. In his NHL career, Slowinski scored 58 goals and 74 assists in 291 games.
