- Starro (a.k.a. Starro the Conqueror) is a strange alien creature resembling a giant starfish that can fly and travel in deep space. It appears to only hunger for universal conquest. __TOC__
- Starro is but one of many starfish-shaped aliens that form a composite entity known as the Star Conquerors. Science City was the site of one of the first attacks by the alien menace known as Starro the Conqueror. Starro sent one of his transformed agents to secure the Hall of Science building, and absorb the scientific knowledge of its residents. Wonder Woman and the Martian Manhunter of the Justice League of America flew to Science City to combat Starro and rescue the captured scientists. In a possible future setting, Starro took control of time traveler Rip Hunter and used him to send his spores backwards in time to Avignon, France in 1348. Being the last of its kind, Starro became an object of the Preserver's interest and was included in his collection of unique specimens. Starro tried repeatedly to escape, but to no avail; it simply was not strong enough to escape the Preserver's enclosure. Years later, the alien was rescued by Superman and placed in his Fortress of Solitude.[2] Though it was still little more than a prisoner, now Starro had a plan: Starro decided to gain control of Superman since it witnessed the Kryptonian's strength.[3]

The intervention of the Justice League of America caused him to have to expand his field of interest, and the entire Earth was almost destroyed. Starro is capable of controlling people's minds with the greatest incentive known to man. The promise of... free t-shirts! He usually gets beaten when people realize he's just a starfish and simply flick him off their faces. Usually Batman, so he has something to do while they're fighting the cosmic menace that logically should be way out of his league.
