  • Clare Estate is a low-rise council estate in the southern part of the New Cross area of the London Borough of Lewisham. The estate was progressively constructed from the 1950s till the 1970s on the site of bomb-damaged terraced housing that served as the location of a temporary prefab estate. The first blocks to be built were Cherry Tree House, Yew House, Almond House, Laburnum House, Oak House and Elm House. All the blocks are generally no taller than four storeys in height, with the exception of Myatt Court in the southernmost point of the estate, at the corner of Vulcan Road and Malpas Road, which is 6 storeys tall.
