The Richmond Sockeyes are a junior B team and were a junior A team. The junior A team started out in the Pacific Coast Junior League in the 1970's. They won the league and the British Columbia Junior Championship in 1976-77. When the Pacific Coast Junior League merged into the British Columbia Hockey League in 1979 the Sockeyes came along. They won the league and the Centennial Cup in 1986-87. The team was sold and became the Chilliwack Chiefs in 1990. The Richmond Sockeyes now became a junior B team in the Pacific International Junior Hockey League.
