Gillian (最下大虚 (ギリアン), girian; Japanese for "Lowest Great Hollow"), also called Menos Grande (大虚 (メノスグランデ), menosu gurande; Spanish for "Less Big" or "Big Minus", Japanese for "Great Hollow") are the first stage of Menos. Considered foot soldiers by human standards due to their vast numbers, a Gillian is created from the merging of numerous Hollows during a cannibalistic feeding frenzy. If one component Hollow become the dominant persona of a Gillian, it can feed on other Gillians to evolve into an Adjuchas and potentially a Vasto Lorde if it consumes enough souls. While Gillians commonly attack in a group, one is powerful enough to be a challenge for a Lieutenant of the Gotei 13.
