| - Suri is a Jedi Knight who enjoys life. Despite all she's been through, she still smiles and laughs. Born on Dathomir to a Dathomiri Witch and a Hapan noble, Suri was found a long way from home on Nar Shaddaa and has a very strong Nar Shaddaa Accent when she speaks. Despite this, she's very knowledgeable of her own people and loves to speak about them. She seems to have an immense amount of pride with regards to her heritage, yet is unsure how she came to be on Nar Shaddaa in the first place. Questions like that don't seem to matter to her and she will often shrug her shoulders and change the subject to something less serious that will deflect any questions regarding her past. She often finds it difficult to talk about her childhood, even to this day, only saying that, before joining the Jedi, she was a very broken child and the Jedi healed her both from the inside and out. When she first arrived at the Jedi Temple on Yavin Eight at the age of 15, Suri was very timid and distrustful of others. She was afraid of touch and had no solid memories of having snow or grass touching her feet so the first time she experienced such was overwhelming for her. She'd never worn shoes or nice clothes and despite being fifteen years of age, Suri was at the height and weight of a ten year old girl. At 28 years old, Suri hasn't grown much taller, but she has gained weight and appears youthful for her age still, but is much healthier than she was back then.Background
Suri was born as Jaesa Suri Jaxx in a small village in the wilderness of Dathomir to the leader of the Flying Shadows Clan of Dathomiri Witches and a Hapan dignitary. Barely able to remember her time on Dathomir, Suri's first recollected memories were of waking up on Nar Shaddaa in a cage. Alone and afraid, Suri could only recollect her middle name and has since then been known to everyone she meets as Suri instead of her Dathomiri name, 'Jaesa'. As a young girl, Suri learned very quickly not to get distracted by things around her as she was punished for her 'disobedience' thanks to the shock collar around her neck. Over time, she began to lose hope of things ever changing as the cycle of depraved torture and pain continued. Often, she was sent on errands to steal weapons or ammunition from the Hutt Cartel and when she learned to slice, she learned she could start gang wars which wiped out the competition for her master's gang of Morgukai. This often saved her from a day of pain and she often did get a kick out of it too. However, as she grew older, she became aware that her time may well be short in this life, especially as shortly before meeting Satkia, she'd taken on a heartbreaking role. Another slave had died, leaving an infant girl, whom Suri had later named 'Mirei' without anyone to care for her. She did her best, but in the end, Mirei was just too young and too sickly to survive. The loss of Mirei broke the then fourteen year old girl and she vowed to never allow her heart to rule her head. She withdrew from everyone, save her Master. With her Master, she was just as disobedient and sarcastic as she ever was. In fact, Suri was becoming rebellious toward him in the hope that he would finally lose his temper and kill her. The Force, however, seemed to have other ideas. When she was fifteen years old, word got out that there was a Jedi on Nar Shaddaa and her master, Korgish, sent Suri to investigate the rumor, only to find the Jedi, named Satkia Riker had come to her. For whatever reason, Suri felt drawn to her and was determined that she would not face her master and tried to send her away, especially since Satkia was pregnant. The Jedi Master seemed unpreturbed and instead wished to help Suri escape the nightmare she'd lived in for so long. When her master arrived to find out why Suri had yet to return, she tried to hide, frightened by what he'd do to her and to her new friend, yet somehow, she managed to find the courage and stood by Satkia and fought Korgish together. When he was finally defeated, Suri was free from her chains of slavery, but had nowhere to go. Impressed by her bravery, Satkia took Suri with her back to Yavin Eight and was found to be Force Sensitive. Being completely out of her element though, it was decided that she needed time to aclimatize to her new situation before she started training. It took her a long time, but Satkia's faith and guidance helped heal Suri's broken soul. She eventually repaid this by helping another young soul heal. A youngling named Jocelyn Jaeger had lost a dear friend, and not knowing how to cope with the loss, decided to run away from the Temple and had landed into deep trouble and Suri was sent to retrieve the girl and act as her guardian to help her heal until she was ready to become a Padawan. Despite being reminded of her failure to keep Mirei alive, Suri did as she was asked, determined that Jocelyn would not suffer the same fate as little Mirei did. Unlike when she took charge of Mirei, Suri had the ability to look after Jocelyn, and while Jocelyn was more or less self sufficient at the time, the little girl needed someone to act as a mother figure to her while her own parents were away defending the Republic. Suri became that figure to her, giving her an anchor and affection the girl desperately craved, healing the child's soul and preparing her for life as a Jedi. A few days after Jocelyn's tenth birthday, Suri watched as Jocelyn made the leap to find a Master to train her, choosing Lynmeira to act as her teacher. Happy that the child was going to be well cared for and taught the ways of the Jedi, Suri returned to her own training, her own soul healed thanks to the dedication she put in to ensure Jocelyn made it to age. .Family
