Cyclic fever was a rare bacterial infection carried by several species of ticks and lice, found in warmer climates. It caused cycles of high fever lasting four days each, with a 50% chance of blindness and 25% chance of death each cycle; at minimum, it caused 2-3 cycles of low fever.
