The Cruz Sagrada was a 16th century Portugese caravel. The ship crashed into the Brazilian coast during a storm and ran around in a sea cave near Rio de Janeiro. The surviving crew discovered that the cave network offered no easy access to dry land and were forced to make a dangerous climb along the interior walls and up the cliffside. Only five men successfully made it but it was all for naught: they were killed by hostile natives.
