Awakers are little ghost-like beings in NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams that take the place of the Alarm Eggs. There is a timer in the lower right hand corner of the screen that tells the dreamer (Will or Helen) how much time is left before they come. When time runs out, awakers start to appear to hunt down the dreamer. In stages where the player must play as Will or Helen alone, yellow stopwatches can be collected to give the dreamer more time to complete the mission. Blue chips can be thrown at the awakers to slow them down, but they cannot be destroyed. If the player is caught by three awakers, it is Night Over. Awakers disappear when the dreamer dualizes with NiGHTS, returns to the Dream Gate, or enters My Dream. Awakers are neither a Nightmaren or a Nightopian.
