Katerina Petrova aka Katherine Pierce is a Petrova doppelgänger and a major antagonist in The Vampire Diaries. She serves as the true primary antagonist of season 1 (alongside Damon Salvatore, who was the main antagonist for the first two chapters), the main antagonist of Season 2 (alongside Niklaus Mikaelson), a supporting anti-heroine of Season 3, the tertiary turned true secondary antagonist of Season Four and a protagonist villain turned temporary main antagonist of Season Five, where she joined the main characters. After being force-fed to Silas in Season 5, Episode 5 Monster's Ball, she begins to age rapidly. She took control of Elena's body and became a Passenger in 500 Years of Solitude. She died in Season 5, Episode 15 Gone Girl next to her daughter Nadia Petrova, who died of a werewolf bite. She was sucked into a dark dimension after not being allowed to go to the Other Side. She is played by Nina Dobrev who also plays Elena Gilbert in the series.
