Due to this, he is best suited to equip weapons with damage reliant on Strength and Speed to deal damage, as opposed to guns, as his action time with guns is the slowest. Il est toujours accompagné de Fran, une viera, elle aussi jouable dans les mêmes jeux. Fils du Dr. Cid, autrement connu sous le nom de Cidolfus Demen Bunansa, Balthier "Ffamran" Bunansa de son vrai nom fut autrefois juge, avant de quitter ses lourdes responsabilités pour un avenir dans le ciel d'Ivalice. Sa répartie est toujours cinglante, et son humour noir bien placé font de lui un personnage secondaire attachant, bien qu'il se qualifie lui-même de personnage principal au cours des scènes du jeu.

Si ritrova coinvolto negli eventi della storia dopo essere entrato nel palazzo reale di Rabanastre ed essersi conteso con il giovane Vaan un prezioso artefatto lì custodito: questo lo porterà a incontrare la principessa Ashe e a combattere al suo fianco in un conflitto che determinerà il futuro di Ivalice.
- Balthier, geboren als Ffamran Mid Bunansa, ist ein spielbarer Charakter aus Final Fantasy XII. Er ist ein tollkühner Luftpirat, der stets auf der Suche nach Schätzen an Bord seines Luftschiffs Strahl durch Ivalice reist. Als treue Partnerin steht ihm dabei die Viera Fran zur Seite, zu der er ein sehr großes Vertrauen hat. Balthier wird zunächst aus Habgier in die Geschehnisse um den versuchten Wiederaufbau des Königreichs Dalmasca durch Prinzessin Ashe verwickelt. Für seine Dienste als ihr Begleiter will er mit Schmuck und Wertgegenständen vergütet werden, allerdings ändert er diese Haltung während der Spielhandlung. Tatsächlich betreffen ihn die Beziehungen zwischen Dalmasca und dem Imperium von Archadia auch persönlich.

Dr Cid held a considerable amount of power, which gave a lot of opportunities to the young Ffamran. Still, Archades was a city built on the buying a selling of information, and in this world, much of what happened was fake and superficial. Still, Ffamran did not find the need to flee, though he spent time thinking about his distaste of the actions of the others in the city, once he no longer had innocence as an excuse.
- Balthier traverse le monde grâce à son célèbre vaisseau, le Sillage. Il se retrouve cependant embringuer dans la résistance suite à une attaque sur le Palais royal de Rabanastre. Fran et lui donneront alors leur meilleur pour aider Ashe à remonter sur le trône de Dalmasca. Au cours de leur voyage, il apprendra à Vaan à piloter un vaisseau, seulement pour lui faire plaisir. Il est cependant moi gentil avec la princesse, puisqu'il lui fait payer ses services, en lui demandant ses objets les plus précieux, comme son alliance.
