Goombarbe is a Goomba. He is Gaijin Goombah's French cousin. He is best friends with Boord, Koopbeard and Beardo. They are all part of the Mushroom Kingdom Beard Appreciation Club. Goombarbe is Koopbeard's pen pal. They got on really well, so Goombarbe went over to Mushroom Kingdom for a student exchange. However, when Goombarbe was away, the 7/11 Attacks happened back in the Royaume Champignon (his homeland), where his parents died tragically. He has since been adopted by Koopbeard's family and considers Boord, Koopbeard and Beardo his best friends.

French Goombas from Royaume Champignon eat a lot of Beard mushrooms, which they call "Champistache". This is how Goombarbe came to have a beard. He suggested creating the Mushroom Kingdom Beard Appreciation Club. Goombarbe is a jolly, devil may care person, who cheers the others up with his quirky foreign humour and thick accent.
