SPARTAN-A078, otherwise known as Eli Jackson was a Spartan-III whom worked on numerous operations on Reach and, prior to the Human-Covenant war, other worlds. Being inducted into the SPARTAN-III program at merely age six, he was assigned AI Siren female designation and former co-pilot of the UNSC Steed of Thunder, he escaped the Raid of Jericho VII along with five other Spartan-III's, with the help of a Spartan-II. in 2552 when Reach was surprisingly attacked by the Covenant Empire, 078 was reassigned to Avernus team, a team consisting of purely spartan III's and a single II. All But one of the Spartans were reported MIA, one such was A078, Eli. According to ONI private records, A078 died in the unofficial battle of Ezhtergom, in which the Spartan fought alongside remaining Insurrectionist

According to ONI private records, A078 died in the unofficial battle of Ezhtergom, in which the Spartan fought alongside remaining Insurrectionists in order to allow a prototype MAC to fire upon a ship under the command of Fleetmaster Anwi 'Eikumee's 'Embrace of Chaos', the Carrier fell onto the city destroying much in its path, however A078 did not officially die until Anwi 'Eikumee personally fought the Spartan on the ground in Hand-to-hand combat, in which the Spartan ultimately lost. The surviving Spartan-II Known as Aesos-082 was the one whom fired the MAC gun, he escaped in a stolen Covenant Phantom, where he later met up with the UNSC to continue his fight, under ONI Special ops. Eli Jackson, Spartan-A078 died merely two days prior to the Reach Conflicts end. His sacrifice crushed a city, but saved many in the process. His AI, Siren was given to the Spartan II manually before A078 made his sacrifice.
