Circling Around is a technique in both installments of the No More Heroes video game series performed by pressing the Control Pad left or right the moment an oncoming attack is guarded. Unofficial names for Circling Around include the Dark Slide, Dark Step and Surprise Slide. At the moment it is performed, the user's screen will grow dark and circle around the enemy, allowing the player to deliver high speed slices for a short moment. Although it requires no set amount of health, battery charge or Ecstasy Gauge, continuing to perform this move requires precise timing and luck but it is possible. The technique appears again in Killer Is Dead, in which dashing around the enemy allows the player to enter the dark, combo-ready mode again.
