Ganelon is a human character that appears in the comic book story "The Jewel Smurfer". He was posing as a friend of the Duke Of Abelagot while he abducted the Duke's son Geoffrey and held him prisoner in the cellar of his accomplice, the usurer, hoping to extort money from the Duke for the boy's safe return. Jokey Smurf, who found Geoffrey locked up in the cellar, also found out about Ganelon and informed Papa Smurf about him while he and some of his fellow Smurfs were brought to the Duke's castle as prisoners of Adhemar, Godilot, and a third person. Through a theatrical piece that the Smurfs had put on for the Duke, they revealed that Ganelon was the kidnapper. Ganelon tried to escape, but instead was stopped when he ran into the thief intending to steal the Duke's treasure, and both men
