Hermit Thrush was an American indie rock band started by Pete Heimbold and Chad Urmston in 1995 while they were students at Middlebury College. The band was only active for a short time when they joined forces with Brad Corrigan of Woodriver Bandits to create One Fell Swoop (later known as Dispatch). In their short existence, Hermit Thrush created a poor recording quality, four track demo. Three of the songs (Otherside, Drive, and Outloud) were re-recorded and released on Dispatch albums with much better recording quality. One song, Sister, was not re-released and is very hard to find. Sister was played once in concert by State Radio, Chad's band after Dispatch.
