In European folklore, a succubus (plural succubi) is a demon who takes the form of a woman to seduce men, usually in their dreams, to have sexual intercourse. Succubi were historically demon-like and unattractive but over several hundred years succubi are now often shown as highly attractive woman. Its male counterpart is the incubus.
