| - Previous Chapter: The Blond American | Next Chapter: Dark Realization, the Invasion Begins The clock hit 7 AM and a loud ringing filled Clyde's apartment. Groggily he reached out and turned off his alarm before sitting up. He'd barely gotten any sleep as he'd been up till 3 hunting for Hellspawn. Rolling his shoulders he groaned at the pain. One of them had been much stronger than he'd expected, knocking him through a building before he was able to kill it. If it weren't for his powers Clyde knew he'd be dead. Running a hand through his hair he stood up and found his school uniform, quickly changing into it before heading out. "Yaaaaah~" Clyde stifled a yawn. "Damn, I need to get more sleep." Zombie like Clyde stumbled his way towards his school. Arriving just as the bell rang he shook his head and tried to clear his mind. Casting his gaze around he noticed several students giving him weird looks. It would seem yesterday's encounter wouldn't be forgotten for quite awhile. Shrugging he trodded down the hall and stumbled into his classroom. If he had to take a guess he'd assume he looked drunk. Sleep depravation is a hell of a thing to go through. Stifling another yawn he quickly found his seat and nearly passed out when he put his head down. A sudden commotion outside snapped him to attentiveness. The door swung open and a rather beautiful girl walked into the room.? "Hello~ The teacher said she'd be late. I'm new in town and I'll be joining this class~" The girl's voice had an odd tone to it that rang in Clyde's ear. A rather annoying one at that. "My name is Klara Bianchi, nice to meet you~" As if on cue every guy in the room was drooling over her. Giving her a once over Clyde could see why that would be so. She was rather petite and had bright blue eyes along with long flowing red hair. He cocked an eyebrow when he realized she wasn't in the school's uniform, forgoing it for a white sleeveless shirt and red vest along with a black miniskirt and black knees length boots. She cast her gaze at him and Clyde felt a shiver run down his spine. The way her bangs hung over her right eye gave her an oddly seductive appearance. "And you are~?" "The name's Cl-" he stifled another yawn. "Clyde." She seemed confused about his response for whatever reason. Not caring Clyde felt his eyes slowly start to drift closed, however before they could the girl slid onto his lap and wrapped her arm around his neck, pressing her face against his. She slowly batted her eyes before she spoke, an even thicker musical tone permeating her voice. "Clyde~? That doesn't sound Japanese~. I guess we're alike then, I'm not from here either~" "No. It isn't." Clyde replied in English. Noticing she didn't understand him he continued in his native tongue. "In fact, this is rather annoying. You're clinging to me like I've been banging with you for weeks and expect me to swoon and fall for such obvious seduction." Clyde coughed and switched to Japanese. "I'm American. And to nip this in the bud...gay." "Huh?" Klara seemed to deflate slightly. Blinking she quickly stood up and a blush spread across her face. Fidgeting she yelled something in a language Clyde didn't understand and ran out of the room. "...I'll never understand girls." ~ ~ ~ Clyde was wandering the streets as the sun began setting. He was once again in his casual outfit, with his windbreaker tied around his waist. Sighing he raised his left arm into the air and looked at the silver link bracelet around his wrist. Hanging from it was a small silver cross that glinted slightly. The cross represented both his past and his future, and was going to be the key that would guide him to his destiny. That was what he believed anyways. Cracking his neck he glanced behind his back and caught sight of movement. Rolling his eyes he continued walking. The damn redhead had been following him the entire day. As far as Clyde was concerned he had to continue hunting the Hellspawn, so he hoped if things started going down she'd run for it. Perking up slightly he sensed something shift in the air, followed by a distinct feel. A Hellspawn had appeared. "Come on out you demon..." As if on cue a large serpentine Hellspawn came around the corner. It had four long thin spider like legs and it's Mask was covered in deep grooves giving it an almost drill like appearance. It caught sight of him and roared, charging so fast that a normal man would have been unable to react. Clyde wasn't a normal man. A green light flickered around his feet and he was in the air. Another flicker of light and he was standing on the air, as if there was an invisible platform. Holding out his left hand there was yet another flash of light, this time blue, as the cross transformed into a silver bow and a black quiver manifested on the back of his waist. "Time to face my Vendetta you Hellspawn! Arrow of Destruction!" Clyde drew back the bowstring and a large arrow appeared knocked in the bow. Making sure his aim was true he let the arrow fire and it whizzed forwards at blinding speeds. The monster noticed the arrow however and swung its tail upwards intercepting the attack, throwing up a large amount of sand. As the dust cleared Clyde realized the Hellspawn had moved. Tensing he kept glancing around trying to relocating it. A sudden strike from behind let him know where it was. Crashing into the ground the blond tucked into a ball and quickly recovered, knocking another arrow. "Volley of Death!" When he let lose the arrow it split into a storm of blue lights that rained down on the Hellspawn, causing it to fall to the ground. As it picked itself up however it became obvious it was unharmed. Swearing Clyde knocked arrow after arrow, trying to destroy the monster's Mask to no avail. Panting heavily Clyde drew back on his bow once more, however this time the arrow that manifested was flickering and noticeably smaller than the previous ones. Shakily aiming he let the arrow fly and it arced clear over the Hellspawn. Dropping to his knee Clyde gasped, trying to catch his breath. "You're useless." Klara walked out of the shadows, a look of disgust on her face. "And to think, you are the one who drew me here. I thought your soul would be incredibly powerful. Instead you struggle against a Hollow of this caliber." Klara moved herself between Clyde and the monster, which she had called a Hollow. Tugging at a string Clyde hadn't noticed around her neck she pulled a small silver ring out of her shirt. Smirking she threw the ring into the air. "Zeige Dich." It a flash of light the ring transformed into a large winged dragon that circled around in the air before landing beside the girl. She reached out and rested her hand on its head before nodding. As if the two were mentally communicating the dragon reared up and roared at the monster. To its credit the Hollow roared back and charged once again, however was easily swatted aside. Deciding it didn't want to draw the battle out the dragon's eyes glowed white and opened its mouth, launching a concussive blast which shattered the beast's Mask instantly, causing it to dissolve and blow away in the wind. Seemingly satisfied the dragon flashed brightly again and turned back into a ring, which fell into Klara's hand. "That is how you destroy a Hollow." Having caught his breath Clyde stood back up and glared at the redhead. "Just what are you?" "I could ask the same. Though, in your case its obvious what you are. A Quincy." "Sorry, but no. I'm not." Clyde drew and arrow and pointed it at the girl's face. "I can let this loose quicker than you can summon that dragon. Tell me. What are you?" The girl sighed before knocking Clyde's bow out of his hand faster than he could react. Quickly darting forwards she pinned him to the wall and leaned in, her face brushing against his. Smirking she pressed her forehead against his before loosening her grip and stepping back. Folding her arms under her breasts she cocked and eyebrow and gave him a once over. "Fine. I'll tell you what I am. I'm a Bount." "A...Bount? You mean those vampire things?" "So ignorant...all those myths about vampires stem from the Bount. So the correct thing to do would be to call vampires 'those Bount things'." She looked at Clyde and noticed a glint in his eyes. "Maybe I was quick to judge. You do seem to have some fire in you after all. Maybe your soul is worth all the hassle I went through." Clyde opened his mouth to say something but before he could the redhead darted forwards and lightly kissed him on the lips. Caught off guard the blond stumbled back and fell backwards confused. Rubbing his head he sat up and realized the girl was gone. Shaking his head he stood and brushed himself off before wiping his mouth and scanning the area for her. Shrugging he picked his bow back up and in a flash it turned back into his bracelet. Pocketing his hands he walked off. As he disappeared however Klara walked back around the corner she'd been hiding behind, a blush on her face. "Why did I do that?" She grabbed at her head in frustration. "It won't accomplish anything, he's immune to my seduction so why did I do that!?" Sighing in frustration she briefly considered following after the American but decided against it, going the direction opposite he'd taken. Catching herself glancing back she slapped herself and started running. END
