Perlote trees were a type of trees that could be found in the eastern swamps of Naboo, a planet located in the Mid Rim region of the galaxy. Perlote trees housed populations of slug-beetles, which the native Gungans regarded as a delicacy. During the Clone Wars, the Confederacy of Independent Systems established an underground laboratory under the perlote trees. In that laboratory, Doctor Nuvo Vindi resurrected the fatal Blue Shadow Virus.
