  • Mirjam Sterk is a controversial politician from Kirlawa. Born in 2302 in Uwakah, she came from an Episcopalian background, and once at university joined the Student wing of the Reformed Political Party, a Protestant movement in Kirlawa. She became a local councillor whilst still a student in 2322, and upon leaving university was elected to the Uwakan regional legislature. Her influence within the local party increased and she was elected to the Kirlawan national legislature in August 2326. Upon the outbreak of the Kirlawan-Dorvish Border War Mirjam, along with other RPP members in Uwakah actively encouraged colloboration with the Dorvish forces, and she was rewarded by becoming the ambassador for Dorvish-Uwakah to Dorvik in 2337. From April 2338 until September 2342 she was also elected to the Kirlawan Pan-National Council. Whilst in Dorvik she was heavily influenced by National Progress Party and its national socialist policies. Although the RPP had always retained a fairly socialist set of economic policies, the NPP imbued Sterk with a strong Pan-Artanian nationalism. She began to advocate Artanian Socialism, and pushed for its implementation in Dorvish-Uwakah. Sympathisers in the DU Armed Forces launched a coup in August 2342, declaring Mirjam Sterk to be the new Minister-President, however the coup was crushed, and Sterk was forced to flee Dorvish-Uwakah. Although it is not known where she is now, followers of her have kept Artanian Socialism alive in both Dorvish-Uwakah and the Free Union of Kirlawa. With the possible reunion of Dorvish-Uwakah and the Free Union, it is likely that she shall return to Kirlawa and contest a seat in legislative elections. Sterk married her husband, from Dorvik, in 2340. She is believed to have had a daughter in 2344.
