The Beaver Bank-Kinsac Fire Department was formed in 1965 and covered the communities of Beaver Bank and Kinsac, located on the northern boundary of Halifax County. Previously, the area had been protected by the fire department at RCAF Station Beaverbank, but when the military closed the facility in 1964, area residents determined that a volunteer fire department was required. In 1996, it and the other fire departments of Halifax County were amalgamated to form the Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency Service.
