Rupert Bentley is the financier of the expedition in which the murder victim Will Medina also participated. He explains that everyone who looks into the face of Kan-Xul is sentenced to death. Already, he tells Beckett and Castle, two members of the expedition have fallen victim. Bentley, meanwhile, benefited by the death of his colleague. Due to the media hype concerning "the curse of the mummy" the exhibition is garnering much more public attention. Castle thought that Bentley had committed the murder, because it would generate more publicity, but Beckett disproves this.
