Synopsis
  • A man named Jenkin Yates was a TV show host that was trapped in Gotham after the earthquake and he decided to continue broadcasting his TV show with hope that someone would watch him. Batman and Oracle were aware of the man's program and they decided that the man would help to save Gotham. Yates would broadcast the events and the lives of the people of No Man's Land as part of his TV show and it would be watched on national TV. The citizens of the United States of America watched the stories of the people inside No Man's Land and most were touched by what they watched. However, the TV Studio was being attakced by a street gang and Yates knew that his time might be over soon. Batman along with Oracle's help, went to the studio and cleared the street gang. Yates was shocked to see that the gang was gone and then he informed the national viewers that he would continue his broadcastings in the regular schedule. Oracle wondered if Yates' efforts would be useful sometime and Batman told her that if just one man was touched by what they saw, there might be hope for Gotham. At that moment a man in Washington, D.C. started to make some phone calls after having watched the TV Show.
  • Francine Langstrom used her son Aaron Langstrom to find food as he could smell meat and other products from great distances and he also could see in the dark, all because of the mutant genes inherited from his father. Langstrom was keeping some of the food found by her son to feed him and her daughter Becky; and some other she rationed among the people in her neighbourhood. A couple of thugs spotted the Langstroms and decided to gain some profit out of them. A man named Graff attacked Francine and kidnapped her son in order to sell the kid over to Penguin. Francine went to see the Penguin but the man refused to help her in any way. Batman noticed the presence of Francine and forced the Penguin to tell him why was she there. After Batman was gone, Penguin ordered his henchmen to find and kill Graff. Batman learned about Francine's son and he went to her place and offered his help but he discovered that she has already injected herself with the Man-Bat Serum. While she was transforming into the woman-bat creature, Batman asked where was her daughter, and Francine told him that she was safe. Later, after the transformation was complete, Francine moved out to find her son and Batman followed her. They went to the subway station were Graff was holding Aaron prisoner. Francine attaked Graff and the man ran away in fear. Graff came across the Penguin henchmen and they killed him as their boss told them to. In the end, Francine and her son were reunited and were planning to leave the city and live free as Bat-people. Batman asked her what would happen to Becky and at that moment, Becky arrived also transformed into woman-bat. Once together they went out of Gotham.
  • Batman is fighting Killer Croc when both of them fall to the ground from a tall building. Once on the floor, Batman was distracted by some noise behind him and Croc seized the chance to grab the cowl and took if off. Batman knocked Croc before he could recognize him but the noise Batman heard earlier was caused by a man standing in the shadows nearby. The old man was named Patrick Kryder and he recognized Batman as Bruce Wayne. Kryder met Bruce in a prom where they exchanged some ideas. Kryder was a former psychiatrist and he was assigned to treat Two-Face back in Arkham Asylum. Kryder was aware of Two-Face's obsession with Batman and after knowing the man's true identity, he thought that speaking to Harvey about it, would grant him some privileges in No Man's Land. Kryder went to see Two-Face in order to give him the news and to gain something in exchange, but when he arrived, Two-Face had nothing but contempt for the man. Kryder tried to convince Harvey and told him that he knew Batman's identity but Two-Face was not interested in knowing that, and after tossing his coin he killed Kryder and told his henchmen to get rid of the body in the nearby dump. While they were doing that, Batman stopped them and knocked them out. He recognized Kryder from their past meeting and felt sorry for the man.

quotation
  • This battle we're fighting, it can't be won if we fight it with conventional weapons. If we're going to save Gotham, we have to use instruments more subtle than fists and brute force.
