Otto Wilhelm Rudolf Caracciola (January 30, 1901 – September 28, 1959) was a German racing driver of Italian descent, the greatest to ever have competed in the European Championship, winning three titles, in 1935, 1937 and 1938. He was also the last official champion in the series, as it was cancelled in 1939 before a champion could be crowned.
