Throwing axes are the 3rd strongest of the 4 sub-class ranged weapons, being stronger than knives and darts of the same level, but having lower damage per minute due to their reduced attack speed. To stop people from ignoring throwing axes they were given this special attack some time after their release with the other sub-weapons to promote use of them. Darts and knives attack at roughly twice the speed of throwing axes.
