A majority of places where Blessed Butterflies gather hide secrets that may be revealed when Link plays his Goddess's Harp. Doing so may cause a Gossip Stone or Goddess Wall to appear. One set, in particular, reveals the Moonlight Merchant, inside Skyloft's Waterfall Cave. Blessed Butterflies are very sensitive to human presence, fluttering away erratically if Link draws too close too quickly or swings his Bug Net. The easiest way to net them is to walk up slowly and simply swing the net when close enough. While skittish, they are not very speedy, and an entire group can be caught by simply waving the net around wildly while running in circles. If scared too much, however, they will fly away out of range for a while. Like the other insects in the game, Blessed Butterflies are a Potion Infusion component, used by Bertie to upgrade the stock potions Luv sells at the Bazaar. Butterflies are used in the Guardian Potion and both Heart Potion upgrades. Strich will buy Link's excess Butterflies for five Rupees each at night, in his room at the Knight Academy.
