D'varim is the first parsha in the book of D'varim, known as Deuteronomy in the English, Christian Bible. D'varim means "words" in Hebrew. Like the first portion or parha of each of the five books of the Torah, it shares its name with the Hebrew name of the book. Alternative spellings: Debarim, דְּבָרִים, Devarim Deuteronomy 1:1–3:22
