After the Jiralhanae were assimilated into the Covenant around in 2492, Jondum became host to a number of orbital refineries intended to convert the planet's gases into fuel. Nearly a century later when the Covenant fragmented, several Jiralhanae chieftains and their packs battled one another for ownership of these refineries. As a result of the fighting, only a fraction of the original platforms remained capable of operation as of 2560.

Nearly a century later when the Covenant fragmented, several Jiralhanae chieftains and their packs battled one another for ownership of these refineries. As a result of the fighting, only a fraction of the original platforms remained capable of operation as of 2560. When the Sangheili launched a full-scale invasion on the Oth Sonin system in 2561, they used Jondum as an early insertion point as it's radiation hid their slipspace signatures from the Brutes' sensor array. Months later, the Elites used the refineries over Jondum to fuel the ships that enforced their blockade of Doisac.
