Pedersen was a stay-at-home defensemen. He once had a goalless drought of 273 season and playoff games, the longest on record in the league. He scored a total of five goals, adding 36 assists, during his NHL career. He played five full seasons with the Bruins and was claimed by the North Stars in the 1991 NHL Expansion Draft. Pedersen retired in 1995. He was coach of the Pensacola Ice Pilots from 1996 to 2000, the Mississippi Sea Wolves in 2001-02, and the Colorado Gold Kings in 2001-02.
