| - Robert Langdon is the protagonist of the Dan Brown novels Angels & Demons, The Da Vinci Code, The Lost Symbol, and Inferno as well as the movies and video games based upon those novels. Langdon was played by Tom Hanks in the live action movies and was voiced by Robert Clotworthy in video games based on Brown's works. Langdon was born on June 22 in Exeter, New Hampshire. Growing up he attended the Phillip Exeter Academy. He became claustrophobic after falling into a well at the age of seven. At the age of nine he was given a Mickey Mouse watch by his parents that he would wear well into adulthood. His father died when Langdon was twelve. Langdon was raised a Catholic but feels that true faith is a gift he hasn't yet received. In adulthood Langdon became a professor of religious iconology and symbology, teaching at Harvard University. Langdon enjoyed swimming, having been a diver at Exeter Academy and playing water polo while at Princeton. He would often swim 50 laps a day in the swimming pool at Harvard. During a papal conclave Langdon was summoned to the Vatican to help find the four papaible Cardinals that had been apparently kidnapped by the Illuminati and to keep the Vatican from being destroyed by antimatter generated at the Large Hadron Collider. Langdon would also play a key role in uncovering of the mystery of who Mary Magdalene actually was and her relationship with Jesus Christ, and how their bloodline would continue throughout the next 2,000 years. The movies reversed the order of The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons, having A&D follow The Da Vinci Code. A few years later Langdon would learn about the truth behind the Free Masons during a trip to Washington, DC. In 2013 Langdon wound up in a hospital in Florence, Italy with no memory of the past few days. He and his physician Sienna Brown traveled from Florence to Venice and from there on to Istanbul to keep a virus from being released by a shadowy group called The Consortium. Reaching the Basilica Cistern in Istanbul they found that the virus had already been released, and that the only thing the virus did was render individuals with a certain genetic profile sterile. They realize that this was an attempt to reduce the planet's population to a more manageable level.
