- Professional wrestling, or pro wrestling, is an athletic performing art which contains elements of catch wrestling, mock combat, and theatre. It has origins in carnival sideshows in the late 19th century as part of displays of athletics and strength. Modern professional wrestling usually features striking and grappling techniques, which are modelled after diverse sets of wrestling and pugilistic styles from around the world.
- Professional Wrestling is usually full of concepts from different types of shows. Each match is roughly choreographed (though not usually in much detail since wrestlers don't have much rehearsal time, let alone for whole matches, given that they wrestle twenty-eight days per month on average--many of a match's details will be improvised). World Wrestling Entertainment's programs remind one of nothing so much as a Soap Opera for guys, complete with all the emotion, melodrama, and occasional comic relief that that phrase implies. Other organizations, such as Ring of Honor, strive for a more gritty, realistic presentation, but still incorporate many soap opera elements.
- Professional wrestling (colloquially abbreviated to pro wrestling or wrestling) is a form of sporting theater which, in the real world, contains strong elements of mock combat. In the world of Dead or Alive, pro wrestling is more "real" in terms of combat, spontaneity and the amount of damaged inflicted onto the opponent, while still being a very showy style. In the film, however, pro wrestling is implied to be fake due to Tina wishing to prove she has genuine combat skills.
