| - Laird Bosie McScutta of Bowlaynee was a hare from the Highlands with the occupation of a warrior-bard. He played the fiddle, the bow from which doubled as an archer's bow. He fired flightless metal rods with this combination instrument/weapon. The rods were stored in the instrument itself. He claimed his grandfather kicked him out of the family castle due to his immense appetite. Bosie arrived at Redwall Abbey just in time to save the life of Dugry from a crow under the command of Korvus Skurr. As with most hares, he was a mighty eater, as it was proven during a feast held in his honor, when he built a massive sandwich. He also saved the lives of Furff and a mousebabe from being abducted by Murig, when the Abbey was invaded by the Doomwytes. In the conflict, he fatally wounded a smoothworm by stomping on its head, though he was convinced he might be poisoned by the phosphorescent minerals that transferred to him by contact with the cave-dweller. Abbot Glisam offered him the Sword of Martin to use as a more efficient weapon when Bosie helped search the cellars for Bisky, who had gone missing. Bosie claimed that until that moment he had never liked swords, despite being trained in the use of the claymore, but this one changed his mind as it was the best sword he had ever used. He was among the group that discovered Aluco living beneath the Abbey, and also helped to track down Bisky and Dubble to the Painted Ones' lair. During the trip, he fell afoul of Tugga Bruster, who was so overbearingly rude and callous to everybeast in the expedition that at one point Bosie felt compelled to kick him senseless to cool him off. Bosie also participated in the hunt for the Doomwyte jewels, and was one of the main players responsible for the victory over the Doomwytes, especially when he suffered major Bloodwrath during the battle and forced the Doomwytes to retreat. He then helped Zaran the Black collapse the hillside above their lair by chopping at a sycamore under direction from Frubb. Eventually, Bosie took up the mantle of resident hare of Redwall. Besides the normal warcry of Eulalia, he had a personal warcry, Bowlaaaayneeee awaaaaa! As a warrior, he took to a calm side most of the time, but could be roused to near-berserker status when the need arose.
