The Merr-Sonn Model Q4 "Quickfire" was a hold-out blaster. The Quickfire was intended to be designed around a power pack rather than energy cells like most hold-out blasters are. Unlike a previous model that attempted this – the lackluster BlasTech HSB-200 – the Quickfire succeeded in doing this. As a result, the Quickfire did not reload like most hold-out blasters (by replacing spent energy cells); it had to hook up to a power source via a special cable included with the weapon. This recharge took only ten minutes.

This recharge took only ten minutes. Not only did the Quickfire have more shots per recharge, it also did more damage per shot than most hold-outs. It did have a weakness, however, which was its range – even shorter than usual for a hold-out blaster.
