  • Bloor Street Mistletoe Stations was a Christmas challenge on the FK Comment Fic LiveJournal community in December 2012. The challenge was posted by brightknightie on 2 December 2012.[1] It was prompted by a Toronto Star article describing the Christmas decorations put up on Bloor Street. The Challenge: As seen in this Toronto Star article and bonus nighttime photo, the Bloor Annex Business Improvement Area has "installed 21 kissing stations" between Bathurst Street and Spadina Avenue until January 3, 2013. Each station suspends a red-ribboned bunch of fake mistletoe from a tinsel-bedecked lamp over a white circle with red text: "Mistletoe Kissing Station Approved by the Bloor Annex BIA." This decorating effort may draw a variety of responses, reactions and interactions: silly, serious, personal, professional... The challenge: Picture this real initiative in Forever Knight's fictional Toronto! The challenge ran from 2 December 2012 to 6 January 2013 (thus running from Advent to Twelfth Night). It elicited the following stories: * "Trains and Winter Rains" by Melissa Treglia (posted 3 December 2012) * "How to Pick up a Bargain at This Time of Year" by Greer Watson (posted 24 December 2012) In addition, "Fair Shares" by brightknightie was also written for the challenge, but not posted to the community because the author felt that it had grown too long to be considered "comment" fic.
