abstract
  • On 24 March 2008 Rovers headed west to take on Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium in a League One game that was televised live on Sky Sports. The game came just six days after the previous meeting between the two clubs, a 2-0 win for Swansea which ended in controversy when Swansea's assistant manager was arrested after headbutting Danny Coles in the tunnel after the final whistle. Before the game Swansea were top of the League One table, with Rovers languishing just six points above the relegation zone. First-team coach Paul Trollope started the game with an unusual 4-4-1-1 formation, with Rickie Lambert on his own up front with Craig Disley playing behind him in the support man role. Lambert and Disley gave Rovers a shock 2-0 lead at the break, but heavy pressure from the Swans in the second half earned them a 2-2 draw thanks to a brace from Jason Scotland.
