Synopsis
  • Jeremiah Arkham is still in his office but is suspicious as why his office door was unlocked. He started to write on his diary and turned on the TV to hear the news about the events in Washington, D.C. when he decides to check on the inmates. All the inmates were down in the corridors and had surrounded Batman, who in turn threatened them to go back to their cells immediately. The inmates laughed at him and under Joker's command, they attacked Batman. Jeremiah arrived in time to stop them from maiming him but when the inmates dropped Batman to the floor, the mask slipped off and revealed that it wasn't the real Batman but instead David Thurman; Jeremiah's right hand doctor. Thurman was sorry for having failed Arkham and then he died. Jeremiah knew that it would be extremely dangerous to remain there with the inmates so he ran away and locked himself in his office once more. Two days passed and Jeremiah wasn't able to step out of his office for fear of what he might find outside. The food supplies were about to end, and the inmates decided to throw a party to deplete the food. Riddler cut out the telephone lines to prevent Jeremiah from calling outside help. Jeremiah started to remember some past tragic events of his life and he knew that the time for him and his asylum was about to end. After Joker killed one of the inmates, some of them decided to set free the most dangerous criminals and more victims were claimed by Poison Ivy, Victor Zsasz, Cornelius Stirk and Solly Bean. At day 3, Dr. Arkham knew that the food must have ran out and the inmates were getting ready to break into Arkham's office and force him to open the asylum doors but before they could reach him, Jeremiah offered them a deal: if they turned away he would open the doors and let them out with the condition that they never go to Gotham City; but if the break into his office, he would destroy the doors controls and they would all be trapped inside the asylum forever. The inmates agreed and Arkham opened the doors to freedoom. All of them stepped outside and were headed straight towards Gotham. Jeremiah knew that they wouldn't do as they promised but he had planned to set them free into a forgotten wasteland, as he learned by the news that Gotham City would be abandoned by the United States Government. At night, he was still afraid of going out of his office because he suspected that some of the inmates didn't left the building. He remembered that Joker said someting about having a cigar at the asylum's libary when suddenly he smelled smoke and he recoiled to his office's corner listening the insane laughter coming from the halls below.
