There were four Canadian teams - McGill University, University of Toronto, University of Montreal, and Queens University - and four American teams - Harvard University, Yale University, Dartmouth University, and Princeton University. Each team played home-and-home games against teams from their own country and one game each against teams from the other country. The games within their own country counted for a league championship.
