Hessle Rangers AFC was formed in February 1976 when the secretary's son was found wanting for a competitive game of football, so together with a few of his mates in the same position, a trial was held to see if a team could be formed. This took place on a snow covered field in Hessle, and it was the secretary's wife Janet who was the driving force. This was the start and the team joined the Hull Boys Sunday Football League the following September at Under 13 level.

| - Hessle Rangers AFC was formed in February 1976 when the secretary's son was found wanting for a competitive game of football, so together with a few of his mates in the same position, a trial was held to see if a team could be formed. This took place on a snow covered field in Hessle, and it was the secretary's wife Janet who was the driving force. This was the start and the team joined the Hull Boys Sunday Football League the following September at Under 13 level. In 2001 the club celebrated it's 25th anniversary. During the past 33 yrs the club has expanded to the point of now being an FA Chart Standard club and an FA Community club. The club has 20 teams spread across all age groups in boys, girls, mens and ladies football, from under 7 up to senior level. s Hessle Rangers also have a mens team that plays in the Humber Premier League under the management of 28 year old Matt Barker, himself a member of the team for the last 5 years. Matt Barker is currently the youngest manager in the league and despite an indifferent start to the league campaign has proven his credentials. Hessle Rangers have some excellent players such as Daniel Wilkin, a defender who plays for the Humber Premier League Representative Team. Some of the most loyal players of recent times play for Hessle Rangers, players such as Mark Lucid, Gareth Wilson, Lee Gardiner, Chris Jennings, Mike Walker, Eddie Rafton, Mark Dale and Craig Holmes have all played the majority of the men's footballing life for the club. Most recently Hessle Rangers pulled off one of the major cup upsets in local football when they beat North Ferriby in the East Riding County FA Senior Cup. A much deserved scoreline of 2-1 saw Hessle Rangers upset the odds and knock out a team who had dominated the competition for the last 15 years.
