  • Lower Heyford Air Force Base was a jointly held base of the United States Air Force and the Royal Air Force, located in Lower Heyford, England. It was also the garrison of the U.S. Air Force's 18th Reconnaissance Squadron. During Day 9, 18 R.S drone pilot named Lieutenant Chris Tanner was providing aerial reconnaissance to his superior Major Shepherd's convoy in Afghanistan when his MQ-1 Predator was hacked by someone else and used the drone to fire a missile on the armored vehicle, killing four soldiers. Tanner was taken into custody and questioned by his superior Captain Greg Denovo, who informed him that the records on his flight key indicated that he had been responsible for the attack. Moreover, the investigators had found postings on a military forum - fabricated by Derrick Yates - saying that Tanner intended to "put [Shepherd] down like the bitch he is." Tanner pleaded his innocence, but Denovo was unmoved. On President James Heller's orders, Denovo and airman Ramirez escorted Tanner off the base to be interrogated in London by the Royal Military Police. ("Day 9: 11:00am-12:00pm", "12:00pm-1:00pm")
