Roger of Conté, born in 401 HE, was a Tortallan aristocrat and held the title of Duke. He was the only nephew of King Roald, and was heir presumptive of his cousin, Jonathan of Conté. Roger had gained quite a bit of notoriety over the years and was known throughout the Eastern Lands as a powerful sorcerer. He conspired against his extended family, wanting to become king. He was killed by Alanna the Lioness for this, and was later resurrected by Thom of Trebond. In his new life, he wished to destroy the entire land rather than rule it. He was finally killed during the Coronation Day Battle of 438 HE.
