This was the second planned-but-never-built shoot-the-chutes ride for Disneyland Resort, following on from the 1950 Monstro the Whale ride. As yet, no rides of this type have been built by Disney. Interestingly however, the Paradise Pier Hotel uses concept art as its main decoration, so guests staying there can see a multitude of Disney California Adventure plans and artwork from before opening - including this ride.
